Check out Twenty-Nine Fresh Cards from Magic's TMNT Expansion (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)

The world's beloved pizza-loving superheroes are coming to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, unveiled a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive panel held at NYCC. Is this a radical new set or yet another Universes Beyond marketing move? Let you decide.

Take a look below at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful context. All items mentioned below launches on March 6, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a few weeks later on March 27.

Magic x TMNT: Main Set Cards

Before diving into the many special decks and bundles available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by Wizards. Standard booster packs for the set are priced at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.

Let’s explore a couple of surprising features. First, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu ability, in which gamers can cheat powerful creatures onto the game field whenever an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The big difference here is that this new ability can apply to spells that aren’t creatures as well. Wizards also used this chance to clean up the mechanic a little (It is treated as playing a spell, unlike Ninjutsu). The original ability is staying, but it's more likely we'll see the new mechanic in upcoming expansions from now on.

“If we ever go back to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu since that's where it was developed and it is iconic of that world,” an experienced game designer explained. “However in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it's more likely that we'd use the updated version.”

Another version of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is one of four special cards with unique artwork designed exclusively for the set by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Additionally, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards outside of your deck, many players were. Yet according to the developers, it’s now a official card in every format of Magic.

Anyway, below are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:

As per Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers state they took care to make sure the new cards and gameplay elements meshed well with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for 15 months and we were aware it was going to be in standard and which sets were going to be alongside it in Standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”

For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red archetype focused on artifacts.

“They mesh together to provide the components for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power!

Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it does come with six different legendary cards who could work as your commander based on how you combine them (five of the cards include a unique Partner mechanic named “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command area rather than only one). Take a look for yourself:

The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, although the price may rise due to popularity. Sources told that it includes 43 new cards in total, which translates to an additional 37 Turtle-themed game cards besides the six legendary creatures pictured above. (Doing some rough math, that also means about 20 reprinted cards if we estimate the precon comes with 37 lands.)

What will the Turtles edition of Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and see.

TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)

Typically, the company is offering a collection. It costs $69.99 and contains the following:

  • Nine Play Boosters
  • 15 Foil basic lands
  • Fifteen Non-foil basic lands
  • Two Reference cards
  • One Traditional foil promo card
  • 1 Oversized life tracker
  • 1 storage box

Pizza Bundle

Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it comes in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the following:

  • 9 Standard Boosters
  • 1 Premium Booster
  • Twenty-five Regular pizza-themed lands
  • Five Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
  • 2 Foil Pizza Bundle promo cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • One Large spindown life counter
  • One storage box

If you’re wondering what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s essentially a reprinted older card featuring brand-new Turtle-themed artwork. Wizards revealed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces onto a pizza. In total, there are six different pizza promos available.

This special bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Night

This unique product is designed for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. It includes:

  • 12 Standard Boosters (the perfect amount four people to draft)
  • One Premium Booster (aka, the prize for winning)
  • 90 Regular land cards (to build your draft deck)
  • 10 Non-foil double-sided tokens
  • One drafting guide (a single-page instruction sheet to drafting this expansion)

Turtle Team-Up

Finally, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to develop Magic game products specifically for beginners. Here, the cooperative set is a special set of decks that allow two players join forces against a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.

The general idea is that every Boss card gives special abilities to the creatures included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically casts an additional card per turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
